ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Beatus of Lungern was a legendary monk of early Christianity, and is revered as a Saint. Legend proclaims Saint Beatus was the son of a Scottish king. Although he was not born Roman Catholic, he was baptized into the church while he was residing in England. Afterward, he traveled to Switzerland to preach Catholicism across Europe. Beatus ventured south into the mountains where he eventually found himself taking up hermitage in what is now known as the Saint Beatus Caves. Tradition tells the story that these caves were home to a dragon before St. Beatus discovered them. Legend states that Saint Beatus defeated the beast and continued to reside in the cave until his death.
This collection is designed to portray the lore behind the Beatus Caves. Isabella Biagioli intends to illustrate a narrative through her designs with the use of powerful outerwear silhouettes and spiritual motifs.
